With its ability to detect planetary atmospheric components, JWST can analyze molecules such as water, methane and carbon dioxide. This is an important indicator that can provide an idea of the planet’s ability to support life. The discovery of new planets not only has an impact in astronomical physics but also in the field of astrobiology. Scientists hope to find a planet that has conditions similar to Earth, with an oxygen-rich atmosphere and abundant water. This could help answer important questions about whether we are alone in the universe or if life may already be out there. However, this discovery also faces challenges, such as distinguishing signals produced by planets from interference produced by the star itself. Therefore, international collaboration between observatories and research institutions is essential to improve detection accuracy. In the next few years, technological developments in the field of astronomy will become increasingly advanced. New mission designs, such as next-generation satellites and telescopes, enable deeper and deeper exploration of space. With each new discovery, we move closer to a greater understanding of the structure of our galaxy and the potential for life that may exist out there.
